📷 Rose House, Lebanon

The Rose House is a once-grand palace in #Lebanon. Its name echoes the magnificent roses that previously flourished in the now-disused gardens.

The #architecture combines traditional #Ottoman characteristics with more Western influences. The main living area is typical of historic Lebanese buildings, high ceilings and an internal triple-arch arcade leading to a balcony.

Ever wondered how to say English, Spanish, Hebrew, and Arabic in Hebrew? Watch this video and learn to pronounce them like a pro! 🗣️✨

Fun fact: Spanish and English both borrowed the word coffee from Arabic (qahwa – קָהְוָה – قهوة), while Hebrew calls it café (קָפֶה), just like Spanish! ☕

Important fact because my day doesn’t start without my COFFEE 🤗

Hit play and let’s speak some Hebrew together! 🔥🇮🇱

"#Ladino is one of the most important diasporic #languages in #Jewish history. Also known as #Judeo-#Spanish, or #Judezmo, Ladino is a Romance #language — a variety of Spanish that includes both words and phrases from #Hebrew, #Turkish, #Arabic, #Greek, #French and #Italian. It originally developed in medieval Christian #Spain; after the expulsion of the #Jews in 1492, it moved along with Jewish exiles, and then developed independently of #Iberian Spanish. I actually learned a new word in researching this article 'razzia' which was the typical word used in Dutch and Indonesian articles about these 1951 raids. (the other words being arrestaties or penangkapan2, per the writing conventions of the time).

I would have thought razzia is an Italian word but apparently it's from Arabic, is used in English (have never heard it used!).
