In 1971, architect Michael Reynolds built a house out of beer cans, inspired by Walter Cronkite on the news. "He was talking about what we call climate change and global warming now. I was seeing all these beer cans tossed away and I'm saying, 'why don't we build out of beer cans and not trees?'" he told @BBCNews. His work was exhibited at the Louvre and MoMA, but he was largely regarded as a kook. Still, he persevered with his net-zero homes, which he dubbed Earthships. Now, you can vacation or live in one in Taos, New Mexico, have one built for you anywhere in the world, or learn to build your own. "There is an art side to them — I've played with the bottles as stained glass, and there's the sculptural aspect. They are beautiful," says Reynolds. "What's really beautiful is they take care of people while taking care of the planet. There is not as much meaning in art as there is in a home."
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT
My dear network,
As I’m about to finish my PhD, I’ll be looking for new employment starting in 2025!
I work as a UX/UI designer, with my focus primarily on creating interfaces for electronic music / multimedia arts, and more broadly, interactive devices.
Throughout my 10+ year career, I’ve collaborated with artists, foundations, and companies, contributing to a variety of creative and technical endeavors. I also have extensive experience writing funding applications, successfully securing resources for multiple projects both independently and as part of a team.
I specialize in both designing and constructing electronic devices, as well as developing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) tailored to specific needs. With a strong background in digital fabrication, I operate my own fabrication lab and have previously served as a lab manager in FabLabs, overseeing a wide range of projects.
In recent years, after a decade of working as a designer, I have broadened my practice to include academic research.
My recent research efforts have primarily explored critical reflection and sustainable action within design practices. I have investigated open-source tools and methods to develop interfaces in the form of both tangible devices and GUIs. The aim of these explorations is to push the boundaries of current practices, finding innovative solutions that enhance the full potential of each design project while considering its long-term impact.
I engage in hands-on design projects and studies with people and communities
As my focus has shifted to academia in the past few years, and I would love to continue pursuing this path. However, I am open to any employment opportunity that can benefit from my skills and expertise.
I am currently based in Parma (northeast Italy), but I am happy to relocate for the right opportunity.
If your organization has an opening that resonates with my skills, or if you come across an announcement that might be a good fit, please let me know!

Long overdue #introduction,
I’m a #structuralengineer and a #software developer. I tried to do both for 5+ years with an emphasis on #structural before deciding it would be a lot better for my career and happiness to focus on the #software.
I’m currently working as a #fullstackengineer. I also do contract work related to #sustainabledesign #embodiedcarbon #sustainability
