The ink dries along the fibers of the paper. The conditions of moisture and drying times determine the end result, which is a beautiful mystery, to naturally unfold.

Line striations horizontal and gently oblique.
Purple blotchy gradient cloudforms.

A tiny and complex bit of silver-grey lichen composed of many tiny birds-nest shapes and some longer flat pieces with tinier dots that will presumably grow into more of those tiny bowls. The surrounding twig, smaller than finger diameter, is dark and bumpy, mostly blurred- bark texture and maybe another dark lichen?

A T-shaped branch intersection (no more than finger diameter, probably less) with the arms of the T starting from lower left angling to upper right, the upright of the T angling to lower right. Just at the centre of the intersection, the twig is wrapped in a golden orange fine textured lichen.It is composed of flatter bits underneath and roundish tiny mounds on top-- kind of like little piles of red letils cooked till they are starting to fall apart. To each side on the bar of the T are equally tiny bits of silver foliose lichen. Backround is blurred warm grey woodland.

My not especially large, pinkish finger is held beside a dark twig, which is a little smaller in diameter, and with multiple spots of several kinds of very tiny lichens- the close-ups to come show patches no bigger than a (short) fingernail.

These are Aspen Populus tremuloides catkins just beginning to emerge.

Overcast day, subtle light. Fuzzy silvery grey catkins beginning to emerge brush-like from their sticky red brown bud casings. Similar to pussywillows but with longer hairs (and they will stretch out *much* more as they emerge fully). Several catkins cluster at the tip of an upright twig, a couple more blurred in the background. Farther back light coloured aspen trunks form a blurred vertical abstract pattern with the shadowed areas between.

A preview of my WIP Wednesday post on this #TextureTuesday. I'm hoping and planning to get a lot more done on this today.

A closeup of my current embroidery project on natural light beige artist canvas that hasn't been treated. The warp and weft of the plain weave fabric is one of the textures. A second is the rose gold metal coils attached to the fabric with white thread that are diagonal from the top left to almost the center middle; the coils are smaller than the weave of the fabric. The final texture is from the black French knots in a fat diagonal column from roughly the upper right to the bottom center. The knots are in 3 different sizes of yarn and the resulting texture is a bit like wool still on the sheep. There are black French knots following the gold work line and there is also one strand of gold work on either side of the fat column of black knots.

This #lace and that #underglaze #pattern seemed like they were made to compare and contrast.

Red underglaze transfer in lacy pattern is being applied to my ‘test tile’ (a small wall vase)

The red transfer pattern was covered with clear glaze to enhance the contrast with the imprinted lace pattern, which is colored green matte by chromium oxide.

Some of the 50 life size heads created by artist Sophie Cave to show different emotions suspended from the roof. They all appear to be of the same person, a baldy man in his 50s, each displaying different expressions and emotions.

I'm reposting everything from my old Instagram, to keep my archive and have a record of my work's development. I'm adding commentary below the original text.

The stands of the pixel mushrooms. Most of the work is in here, but you won't see it when they are finished like these. Those little tufts of moss will be wool in the next versions.

There we go - referring to the next version as being in wool instead. Which I did, and which led to my current wool and embroidery works.
I did hesitate a bit to use wool and fabric materials - they are generally considered "craft," not art. Which is weird. Why is it craft when the material shifts to something from a traditionally female field? It's also strange how easy it is to find many painters, sculptors, etc. (mostly male) throughout history, yet fabric-based art doesn’t seem to have the same level of historical recognition.
