Many people, unfortunately, do not read legal documentation. It has become human nature to simply click "OK, I agree".
If more folks did read their terms of services, you would know word-based domain name extensions are not managed the same way as normal with the protection of ICANN.
As it stands now, if Donald Trump really lost his mind, he could shut down much of the Fediverse.

The word-based domain extensions, for example, Dot Social, managed by corporations based in the United States of America.
To escape America's rule of law, you not only want hosting outside the United States, but you want a country level domain name to be safe.

Proton is leaving because Proton cannot control the flow of information here on the Fediverse.
Most corporations mimic social algorithms to their advantage, particularly, to suppress news and information that may not paint them in a good light. Proton cannot do that on the Fediverse.
When Proton rebranded a few years ago, which caused some people to lose their accounts with no refund, they silenced any complaints on both Facebook and Reddit. I know, because I was one of those people. Most of you were happy to have the new upgraded accounts, but if you had the original family plan, which they discontinued (only to start selling a new family plan months later), you were not a happy person to find out you lost your service.
Additionally, it has been brought to people's attention that Proton now falls under Us-jurisdiction. Proton would like to argue that is only for Proton Wallet, but our legal system does not allow a company to pick and choose. Plus, even if they could (you cannot), it means they could still be pressured and influence by US Politics and US Laws now. This was another little fact, Proton wanted to suppress, but cannot because the Fediverse is organic, and not centralized.

@konkrit @mike The demographics of #Mastodon - and the #Fediverse - are not particularly diverse, and mostly reflect white Europeans and North Americans (with the main exception being Japanese #Misskey users).
This is not good, and if we can change our underlying technology (*) to make Mastodon attractive to people outside of these groups, then in my opinion we should do so. The revolution will not be successful if it is not global.
(*) Of course, we also need to implement _cultural_ changes to make the Fediverse more attractive to non-white demographics - there is only so much that technology on its own can do.

There are people being paid to sow the idea that fighting either personally, politically, or by legal means is futile.
I have seen the same type of post being shared on Facebook, Twitter, Threads, Instagram, TikTok, and yes, even here on the Fediverse.

Does anyone know if there's any way to make my single-user Misskey instance fetch responses to posts more aggressively? I'm a little tired of having to "View on remote instance" every time I want to check I'm not the thousandth person responding the same thing.

So I guess Annwyn and I are shopping for a tandem account now, and we're curious about #fediverse software that isn't Mastodon. Or at least I am. I know some people use #akkoma and others use #misskey and the Friendica isn't real. I'm curious as to what people's experiences are with these platforms.

Use e teste diferentes aplicativos para ver o que mais gosta. Já usei vários e recomendo o @moshidon para #android (feito pelo @lucas_na_ursal). O #moshidon, por exemplo, permite interagir com a timeline de várias instâncias. Depois coloco uma recomendação aqui de um app para iOS.
Postou uma imagem, um gif ou um vídeo, coloque o texto alternativo. Isso é bem importante e valorizado por aqui. Eu mesmo só dou boost se tiver texto alternativo. Outra dica importante é descrever sua foto e capa do perfil 
O #mastodon na web também pode ser acessado com interfaces alternativas como: elk.zone e https://phanpy.social. Experimente, o #fediverso é cheio experiências diferentes e proveitosas! Um mundo novo
