#Piefed (#Reddit alternative), and #Lemmy and #MBIN alternative too, has added a nice new feature called "Feeds" which is like multi-reddit. You can create your own public feeds by combining a number of communities together. People on any other Piefed instance can subscribe to your feed.

Today’s #HOA entrant: “Stop promoting #Lemmy because it’s made by Stalinist trash.”

I’m not “promoting” Lemmy. I don’t even use it—I prefer and recommend #Mbin.

But Lemmy is already popular, and I would be a fool if I didn’t acknowledge this. For better or worse, this is the #Reddit alternative that has the biggest userbase. It is what it is.

For what it’s worth, the biggest Lemmy server is lemmy.world, and it’s not run by Lemmy devs. And no, I’m not going to defederate it just because it runs Lemmy.

Whatever your grief with Lemmy devs, they still made software that’s objectively better than Reddit, and better is still better—even if it’s not perfect.

So no, I’m not going to stop talking about Lemmy—even if the devs aren’t saints.

Mother fucking 2 year #lemmy cake day.

For me, lemmy was the actual start of the fediverse experience.

A reddit/forum style platform on the same protocol as Twitter style platforms that even kinda interacted with each other (first time seeing which was genuinely wonderful).

Since, I’ve always said the Fedi should do more group based things, and I stand by that. I even think Reddit/forum/group-based platforms are a better story on AP than microblogging and I’d wager they could stick around longer than the Twitter clones.

Either way, whenever I come back to the Fedi, I’m usually heading for lemmy / #threadiverse first. Reddit culture aside, I find it a much nicer way to find my people.

#PieFed (Fediverse Reddit equivalent) now supports private voting on posts. Up and down votes are kept private, even from other Fediverse applications where they normally aren't private.

All PieFed accounts now have an anonymous second account associated with them that can be used only for voting. It's an account level option that any PieFed account can enable/disable. My understanding is that votes in #Lemmy and #MBIN are always public.

I significantly scaled up the DB cluster in https://feddit.online and the performance improvement seems substantial.

feddit.online is a #Piefed instance. Piefed is a #Fediverse #Reddit equivalent, like #Lemmy and #MBIN.

For those who haven't used a community-centric application, instead of a timeline, messages stay in communities (groups). Communities focus on a single interest. All posts and replies stay within the community, so you don't miss posts and nobody misses your posts.

In an application like Mastodon, Bluesky, etc., even when using hashtags, messages are missed if they don't appear on the timeline at a convenient moment.

Since it's #Federated, you can follow messages from Mastodon, et al.

Some of you here, and on other servers, post on particular topics, like Celtic culture, Linux, cardiovascular health. But most microblogging applications, like Mastodon, lack engagement.
