A bookbinding weekend project! :)
This time a compact planner, recycling pages from an old #zelda calendar.

The #planner is a 2 sections 3 hole binding.

The #endpaper used was an experiment i did last summer trying to make #marbledpaper (although the experiment didn´t went very well)

The template is done with #scribus

Recently i decided to try to make a D&D character sheet booklet, everything has been made from scratch i designed it usiing the #opensource software called #scribus ,then the pattern has been designed using #gimp. Je travaille principalement avec des #encresaquarelles , des #crayonsdecouleurs et des #feutres. Sur ordi j'utilise des logiciels open source, #gimp #scribus et la suite #libreoffice

Je vie actuellement à #lyon mais je déménage bientôt à L'Arbresle pour avoir un jardin !

In terms of #Desktop #Apps I disagree:

As for #collaboration tools, I think that @nextcloud and @CollaboraOffice are the way better options than #Office365 and those ain't the only ones on the market either (see #openXchange and other suites)...

  • Like I'd subscribe to @monocles or @Stuxhost any day for that and I'm shure both are receptive to organization-based subscribers...

And unless you want to make printable stuff, #git and fancy frontends like #gitlab and #gitea exist that make it easy to collaboratetively edit #markdown to the point that it's my go-to solution.

In the end my observation is that most people don't switch because either it's not painful enough and/or they just don't know better and think that #computing must suck as a fact of life!

When it comes to "page design"/DTP, most people know of InDesign, or the free Scribus. But there's another free tool too for all OSes (including Linux): Viva Designer. Very advanced, and with a good UI, albeit not open source. They have a time-unlimited free tier that doesn't lose too many features over the full version.

@jhx my fedi instances - #pixelfed, #peertube and #pleroma. Website, wiki, forum, bug tracker and websvn for #Scribus. Various personal projects of mine and friends. And all the $dayjob stuff, servers and laptop.

If it won't run on (Free)BSD I'm unlikely to run it. Not just because of my choice of OS and refusal to get into Linux, but because - for the same reason I'm on the fediverse - I hate monocultures. And software that can only realistically run in a docker container or some other tightly-bundled environment is, imo, badly engineered.

It is ironic that much "free" software offers very little actual freedom in how it is run.

(Yes I understand that maintaining support for differing platforms is additional work. But once upon a time, "linuxisms" was considered bad. I don't miss configure scripts and automake, but I very much miss the attitude and culture of "if it smells like unix/posix, this should work".)

Deshalb ist @libreoffice IMHO ein gutes Drop-in - Replacement!

  • #Markdown ist natürlich einfacher in der Strujtur, aber kann umso mächtiger sein...

Spätestens wenn wer komplexe Mathematikformeln angeben will ist #LaTeX quasi konkurrenzlos, weil es ist das "SCORE der Textverarbeitung"...

  • Und SCORE ist das #ed unter der Notations-Software: Knochentrocken, Knallhart und mit der Eiger Nordwand als optimistische Lernkurve...

Natürlich erwarte ich nicht dass "nicht-IT'ler" auch nur ansatzweise mit #neovim oder gar #NvChad* zu tun haben und nur bei Leuten die professionell Zeitungen layouten würde ich #Scribus-Kenntnisse mutmaßen.

Hello #PortfolioDay! ✨

I'm a German #creative person, living in #Edinburgh and #Lübeck. I've been sneakily changing to only using #OpenSource tools (#Inkscape #Krita #Scribus #Blender etc.) and so far no one has complained ^__^

Aside from #illustration and #GraphicDesign I've also been doing a lot of #3D / #fulldome work, which is a good mix!

I love #nature and #science (especially #astronomy 🤩), progressive #fantasy, #folktales and everything nerdy. #FightFascism!
